Amiya Bharali Nursing Institute was established in 2008 in memory of Late Amiya Bala Bharali, originally beginning its journey with the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) training course. Over the years, the institute has seen significant growth, with 16 batches of students successfully completing the two-year ANM program as of 2025. Our graduates are now providing effective services across various government and private sector organizations throughout Assam. Building on this foundation, in the 2018-2019 academic year, the institute introduced the three-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course, which has since seen the successful completion of 5 batches of students. Continuing this progression into higher professional education, the four-year B.Sc Nursing degree was launched in 2022, with our inaugural batch of degree students set to graduate in 2026.
The institute operates under the full permission of the Government of Assam Health & Family Welfare Department (vide Memo No. HLA 742/2009/26 dtd. 12/01/10) and is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi (Memo no. 02/May/2010-INC dtd. 30/05/10). We are also recognized and affiliated with the Assam Nurses’ Midwives’ and Health Visitors’ Council (Memo No. NRC/05/2009/545 dtd. 7/6/2010) and Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. To ensure our students receive the highest quality of clinical exposure and practical training, we maintain partnerships with premier medical institutions, including Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh and Nagaon Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) in Nagaon, DIIMS Hospital in Sonapur and IUKD Sonapur. Additionally, students gain vital hands-on experience at the 30-bedded Khetri CHC, Sonapur PHC, District Hospital in Sonapur, STHG Civil Hospital in Morigaon, Morigaon Model Hospital, Satgaon CHC, etc., all of which are located in the immediate neighborhood of the Amiya Bharali Nursing Institute.
